Bright Futures deliver detached/outreach work 3 nights per week across South Tyneside.
Detached sessions take place in areas that have been identified as ‘hot spots’ either due to intelligence received from partner agencies including Northumbria Police, or from members of the community. Detached youth work operates without the use of a building or activity and takes place where young people “are at” both geographically and developmentally. It delivers informal and social education and addresses whatever needs are presented to or perceived by the youth worker.
Staff of Bright Futures visit areas in South Tyneside on a weekly basis including South Shields Town Centre and local parks, shops and metro stations across the Borough; where young people may be congregating and becoming involved in risk taking behaviour.
